Stewart WalkerStewart Walker - Managing Director

Stewart’s career has taken him from Edinburgh to Los Angeles and back again. Along the way he’s worked in some of the world’s finest 4 and 5 star hotels including Edinburgh’s iconic Caledonian Hotel and L.A.’s St James Club. His extensive hospitality and tourism expertise is backed by strong business acumen honed at one of Scotland’s leading private banks, where he worked as a market advisor for hotel development. He then joined the Edinburgh Convention Bureau where his conference marketing leadership contributed to Edinburgh being rated one of Europe’s top ten conference cities.

In 2001, Stewart combined his expertise and passion for the industry with his financial, analytical and business skills to found Business Tourism Solutions (BTS). This Edinburgh-based creative marketing agency specialises in local, national and international tourism and leisure, with high-profile success stories including the project management for Scottish Enterprise of both MTV Edinburgh and the Gleneagles’ G8 Summit.

BTS work with a varied and prestigious client base, helping them achieve their goals by providing essential support and services such as market and financial feasibility studies, operational reviews, and business planning.

Stewart’s current projects include On The Tee, a Scottish Enterprise visitor marketing programme designed to help Scottish golf clubs react positively and proactively to the current market challenges. On The Tee helps clubs prepare Visitor Marketing Plans designed to attract additional visitors, increase revenue and improve the visitor experience.

Stewart is an independent Director with Fife Golf Trust, a charitable trust managing and operating seven Fife Council Golf Courses. 

Susan IrelandSusan Ireland - Marketing Director

Sue’s background is private sector marketing and business development, having established a creative marketing and advertising agency in her early twenties, selling this, and moving into the varied field of business support and business advice – from strategy to the practical things that make a business successful – staff and staff commitment, systems, profile and branding, customer care and management drive and ambition. Sue is commercially attuned to marketing propositions, communication channels and robust income solutions. She is regularly on call for mentoring and business advice to a wide range of individuals and companies. Businesses return to Sue for her brand of support, mix of business intuition and marketing and communications. Their loyalty to her is testimony to her ability to motivate clients to change and to make the changes effective. Sue worked closely with enterprise agencies and trusts to offer business development advice and support to young start up companies. Sue has managed sponsorship plans for many clients including BT and has brought sponsorship into many events and festivals.

Ivan Broussine - Strategy and Research Director

Ivan is a market driven economist, an experienced economic development professional, with public and commercial successes. He was the founding CEO of the private sector based Scottish Tourism Forum lobby group (www.stforum.co.uk). Here he established the Scotland-wide private sector led "cluster" group for tourism (Tourism innovation Group), helped industry-wide communications during the Foot and Mouth crisis and was a member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh FMD Enquiry. Ivan has local government, national development agency and private sector economic and business development experience. When chief officer responsible for economic development in Edinburgh, he set up the Edinburgh Science Festival and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay; prepared Edinburgh’s first events and festivals strategy; managed the Council’s European programmes focused on labour market intervention and developed Edinburgh’s tourism portfolio and marketing structures.

In private practice, Ivan’s capabilities are in evaluation work, economic impact analysis, market research, business development, marketing planning benchmarking and best practice models, working across a number of sectors, especially in tourism and hospitality.  He has strong experience in partnership working, relationship development and stakeholder commitment and has operated in a variety of settings under corporate, member, stakeholder, political, public and media scrutiny.  Ivan was also Chair of the Advisory Board of Co-operative Development Scotland (www.cdscotland.co.uk), a subsidiary of Scottish Enterprise with a Scotland wide remit to promote and support co-operative development.

Linda Duncan - Marketing Manager

Linda is a professional marketer and consummate project manager. Linda spent 10 years working for a Scotsman and latterly Johnston Press as Group Commercial/Enterprise Manager, focussing on  the extremely successful global Reader Holiday Market, product and brand development and retail sales both in B2B and direct to consumer.  She has an extensive knowledge of direct and on-line marketing including the sourcing of products, design, print and distribution. Her experience lies not only in the UK market but also internationally.  Linda has a natural entrepreneurial flair and always ensures that costs are managed and sales are achieved.
